Wooden Ship Productions, formed in 1991 by Robyn Boyd, has booked hundreds of tours of the US and Canada in the past decades. With a focus on Celtic traditional music (some, though played on traditional instruments, is quite contemporary) and also a few singer-songwriters with a story to tell. Joined by her son, Sean, in 2015 Wooden Ship Productions has grown into a marketing/promotion company as well as being North American agents for foreign artists. Sean comes from a marketing background in the indie-pop genre. Seeing a need for professional marketing campaigns among trad artists, he has applied his skills to building the brands of artists on the Wooden Ship roster. This includes mailing physical copies to the US folkDJ panel as well as appropriate media outlets for airplay and review. When artists show crossover potential, the service list grows to include national outlets outside of the folk or trad market. Calan is the latest success with magazines such as Elmore, Blurb, Filter and others touting the excitement that bands playing traditional instruments can generate.

Robyn’s sterling reputation for having good ears and finding new talent is relied upon by North American presenters looking for the next new band.
